The Discourses of the States is the first history book of its kind in China, which records the stories and discourses of the historical figures of the eight states of Zhou, Lu, Qi, Jin, Zheng, Chu, Wu and Yue and cover span of 515 years, from 967BC when King Mu of Zhou attacked the nomadic tribe of Quanrong, to 453 BC when the three power clan of Zhao, Wei, Han jointly wiped out the clan of Zh. It provides many important source materails for people to know pre-Qin times. The present book is based on the Mingdao edition with reference to the Gongxu edition. Altogether 72 stories are selected from "The Discourses of the states of Zhou" "The Discourses of the states of Lu" "The Discourses of the states of Qi" "The Discourses of the states of Jin" "The Discourses of the states of Chu" "The Discourses of the states of Wu" and "The Discourses of the states of Yue" respectively.
